Tim's Blog ...

February 2010

Recent sad news is that Hamish Miller died last week. If you don’t already know who this magnificent, generous man was take a look at www.parallelcommunity.com click on the link to Meeting Place and see what some of the 47,000 people who turned up at the site last Wednesday thought of this man.

How many more did he actually reach? What was his message that made so many people instantly warm to him?

At the risk of sounding trite, I think it can be summed up in one word: compassion…

And “honesty”….

That’s two words. Compassion, honesty and an enquiring mind.

That’s considerably more than one word. For the Monty Python fans amongst you: “Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!…..” Not least of all a quiet rebel like Hamish.

The Parallel Community is his legacy. It’s a growing worldwide movement and ironically it will grow with additional vigour now that Hamish has died.

But what is it? I recently described it as a way of living in this world if you are tired of the mumblings of traditional politics, tired of the media frenzy that occurs every time there is  even the hint of a news story to tell, (mostly when there is no story) and tired of the lies we tell each other everyday because that’s the way it is accepted that we live in a modern world.

Well, no, actually it isn’t the way to live. The Parallel Community is about helping each other. It’s about recognising that we all we need to be happy is food, family or friends and a roof over our heads. Its about laughing and being positive. Because if you can really be positive and happy, with honesty, then the real Nature of humanity can work miracles.

I learned that from Hamish Miller.

Summer 2008, Ludlow House.

We had a meeting with Hamish Miller last week. For those of you who don’t know, Hamish is a dowser, a metal-sculptor, broadcaster, blacksmith and healer. He also features in most of our DVDs to date. He’s the reason I started Knights Rose and in a real sense he is my mentor….  but he doesn’t realise it.

I first encountered Hamish after being given a great book that he had written about what I presumed at the time were called ley lines. My family and I had moved in to an old Georgian townhouse and had been told that we had a couple of ley lines running through the back of our house. As it turns out I now realise that this in itself wasn’t anything unusual – we are all surrounded by what are more correctly termed earth energy lines; and so we should be, they appear to be a part of the intricate web of subtle energy structures that make up our material world… so we’d be pretty lost without them. Anyway, at the time I thought it was amazing to have a “ley line” or two doing their own thing at the back of the house. It seemed perfectly natural that the rather unusual things we’d been experiencing in the house up to that point were due to the Guardian of those lines trying top make contact with us in a not too scary sort of way.

More of that another time.

A friend or relative gave me a book called “The Spirit of the Serpent” by a chap called Hamish Miller and in this extremely readable paperback I discovered an author who had had a very different experience of living than I had. Here was a man who’s stubborn belief in the sentience of the Earth took him ten years or so to follow the route of a major earth energy line right across Britain, from his home county of Cornwall all the way through such sacred sites as Glastonbury and Avebury as well as many sites that are just as special, but less frequented, all the way to the coast of Suffolk where this energy line named Michael and Mary (for it was in fact two) left Britain on its course towards the land mass that was then called the Soviet Republic and onwards around the world.

I first met Hamish over a year after reading both “The Sun and the Serpent” and “Its Not Too Late”. By that time I knew he would be a reasonably approachable good natured sort of fellow. I was right. I shook his hand in a room crammed full of keen fans at the launch of his “Wee Book on Dowsing” and one of the first things I said to him was, “ Do you fancy doing some telly?” Little did I know his real attitude towards television types that lurked behind the smiling old face and the incredibly lively eyes as he answered gruffly, “Yes, but let’s talk about it some other time, not here, not today”.

In the end that first meeting led to us working together on what turned out to be our first DVD, “The Spirit of the Serpent”. That was in 2003.

In the last 6 years we have kept in touch, I have learned to dowse and in my own simple way I seem to find some quite staggering responses in earth energy right here in the house where we live. And yes, these responses are in the back of the house where the energy lines cross. At any other time this space would have been a sacred site. I regard it as a sacred site even now. A very welcoming one!

The experiences I have had in dowsing conversations with the guardian spirit energy of the place have been remarkable for me. For others they may not find them so, but that is the nature of our existence; and different beliefs are to be celebrated not despised.

So to be having a meeting with Hamish in his joyful kitchen in the comfort of his home on land that is quite simply a sanctuary within Penwith, was a great experience.

We agreed to start work on our next DVD which is to be specifically about Earth Energy. It’s an incredibly important subject that we really don’t understand anywhere near as much about as we should do. I am convinced it sits at the heart of our existence; our true reason for being. It is our consciousness that is our reason and our emotions are the dialogue we can exercise with our creator. The geometric symbols found in these subtle energy centres of earth energy are the key to understanding our place in this Universe. Hamish brought me to this point. And I have so much to learn.

We will begin working on our next DVD soon.

Through these pages I hope you can join us on this journey.
